How to measure your caravan mattress
Caravan beds don't follow one standard – two vans with a "queen" bed can differ. A few minutes with a tape measure is the best way to get sheets that fit.
You'll need
- A tape measure (metal or sewing tape)
- Something to write on
Step by step
- Strip the bed – measure the bare mattress, not over a sheet or topper.
- Width – measure across the widest part, side to side, in millimetres.
- Length – measure head to foot down the middle.
- Depth – measure from the top surface to the base. Add the height of any topper you use on top.
- Corners – are the foot corners square, rounded or cut at an angle? Is it both corners or just one? For one corner, note left or right when standing at the foot of the bed facing the pillows.
- Bed orientation – does the bed run front-to-back (north–south) or across the van (east–west)?
- Compare with the size guide below and choose the closest match.

Frequently asked questions
Will a household queen sheet fit a caravan queen?
Usually not well. A household queen is about 1530 x 2030 mm, while many caravan queens are about 1500 x 1880–1900 mm and often have rounded corners, so a household sheet tends to be loose at the foot.
